book, Orchesography, he spells the type of dance explained:
b-r-a-n-l-e. However, in many modern sources the word is
spelled: b-r-a-n-s-l-e. Where did the 's' come from?
Why is it still spelled that way? It has been hypothesized
that the spelling 'bransle' was used by Charles I to describe
the French dances that started to win out over the Italian
dances, in popularity. Click
